Base Wars Controls
Infantry bindings, aim modes, rockets, and vehicle inputs for PC and mobile players.
Why controls matter in Base Wars
Base Wars fights are decided by aim discipline and vehicle timing as much as by Battle Score unlocks. If you fumble scope keys while a Vortex screams overhead, the round is already gone. This page is the binding reference for infantry and vehicles so you can focus on facilities, flags, and loadouts covered in Getting Started and How to Win.
There is no sprint key. Movement is deliberate. Learn to strafe, use cover, and transition between hip fire and aimed fire without looking down at the keyboard.
PC infantry controls
| Action | Default binding | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Move | WASD | No sprint—plan your crosses |
| Jump | Space | Clear low barriers and pad lips |
| Shoot | LMB | Hold for automatic weapons |
| Aim / ADS variants | RMB, C, or Z | Learn which your loadout expects |
| Scope | B | Snipers and scoped rifles |
| Reload | Context / weapon reload | Reload behind cover, not mid-push |
| Rockets (when equipped) | R | Anti-vehicle and area denial |
| Interact / board | Proximity + prompt | Face seats and pads cleanly |
Exact prompt labels can vary with UI updates, but the combat cluster above has been the long-term muscle memory for Base Wars PC players. If a patch remaps a key, check in-game settings and Updates.
Aim modes in practice
- Hip fire (LMB only): Best inside rooms, bunkers, and chaotic facility doorways.
- ADS (RMB / C / Z): Mid-range rifle lanes and holding angles on capture pads.
- Scope (B): Long sightlines on open maps and Peak high ground. Scope walking makes you loud and slow—pre-aim then peek.
Practice switching ADS off the instant an enemy closes distance. Many deaths happen because players stay scoped while a shotgunner enters the room.
Mobile and touch controls
On mobile, Base Wars uses Roblox touch joysticks plus on-screen fire / aim buttons:
- Left stick for movement; right side for look and fire.
- Use the aim toggle before long-range shots—touch drift is real.
- Increase touch sensitivity gradually; high sens without practice sprays entire magazines.
- When boarding vehicles, wait for the seat prompt and avoid mashing jump or fire until the camera settles.
- Consider a claw grip or a simple controller if you play jets often; aircraft need simultaneous move, look, and weapon inputs.
Mobile players should still learn the PC key names in chat and guides (R for rockets, F for vehicle fire, Z / X for aircraft tricks) so teammate callouts make sense.
Vehicle controls overview
Once seated, vehicle tools unlock extra actions. Defaults players rely on:
| Action | Binding | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Primary vehicle fire | F (hold/tap) | Tanks, turrets, many armed craft |
| Rockets / special ordnance | R | Jets, some tanks, rocket tools |
| Aircraft speed boost | Z | Fighters / attack jets |
| Aircraft hover | X | Craft that support hover modes |
| Exit | Standard Roblox exit / jump-out | Bail before ammo cook-off |
Always confirm the tool is equipped in the hotbar after you sit. Firing with the wrong tool selected is a classic beginner mistake.
Tanks and ground armor
- Enter from safe angles—enemy infantry love camping spawners.
- Use F for the main gun; learn shell travel time instead of sniping like a hitscan rifle.
- The Battle Tank is a Hunt-event favorite for ramming and clearing clustered enemies—see Hunt Badge.
- Hull health is not infinite. Reverse into cover when tracks spark and teammates are not screening you.
- Compare chassis roles on the Vehicles Tier List once you unlock options.
Jets: Vortex, Shadow, Tracker, and friends
- Take off with clear runway space; clipping geometry deletes expensive airframes.
- Z for speed when you need to reposition or escape AA.
- X for hover when the airframe supports it—great for stabilizing gun runs, deadly if you hover over awake AA.
- R for rockets; lead moving ground targets.
- Dive, fire, climb. Hovering over a contested facility paints a target on you.
Helicopters, ships, and subs
- Helicopters reward altitude discipline—too low and small arms shred you; too high and you miss the fight.
- Ships and coastal guns matter on water-heavy layouts; communicate before sailing alone into enemy destroyers.
- Submarines are ambush tools. Surface with a plan, launch, then relocate.
- Heavy options like the MAC Tank need team follow-up; a lone super-vehicle still dies to focused rockets and air.
Turrets and base defenses
Static turrets often use the same F fire pattern as vehicles. Jump on AA when enemy jets are farming your spawn. Repairing friendly vehicles and turrets can grant Battle Score—worth doing between pushes, as explained in Battle Score.
Loadout hotkeys and pad use
- Swap weapons before you round a corner, not after you take damage.
- Ammo and health pads are part of the control loop: disengage, touch pad, re-peek.
- Rocket users should pre-bind awareness of R so anti-armor reaction time stays under a second.
- Melee is a panic tool—do not charge Extreme-tier armor without a plan.
Accessibility and settings tips
- Lower graphics if frames drop during 20-player vehicle chaos; aim consistency beats shadows.
- Remap only after you understand defaults, or guides and teammates will confuse you.
- Headphones help for jet audio and flag carrier footsteps near HQ.
- If UI scale hides prompts on mobile, adjust Roblox app settings before blaming the game.
Training routine (10 minutes)
- Spawn as infantry; strafe between two pieces of cover while hip firing.
- ADS at a distant static object, then unscope and retreat on a timer.
- Board a tank; fire five shells at a wall to learn drop.
- If available, take a jet; practice one boost (Z) and one hover (X) without firing.
- Return to a facility fight and apply the same habits under pressure.
Pair this page with Getting Started for context and How to Win for objective timing. When a patch changes vehicles, re-check Updates and the Vehicles Tier List. For layout-specific spawns, keep Maps open. Broader encyclopedia notes live on Wiki, and community pages under Players.
Master the bindings once. Every later unlock—Holofoil quests, Rebel kits, Uber VIP guns—still uses the same fingers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Base Wars codes, VIP, loadouts, and combat.
Is there a sprint key in Base Wars?
No. Movement is WASD without a dedicated sprint. Use cover and shorter crossings instead of long open sprints.
How do I aim down sights or scope?
Use RMB, C, or Z for aim modes depending on context, and B to scope on compatible weapons. Unscope before close-range fights.
What key fires vehicle weapons?
F is the standard vehicle and turret fire key. Equip the vehicle tool after seating so inputs register.
How do jet speed and hover work?
Z boosts aircraft speed on supported jets; X engages hover where available. Use boost to relocate and hover sparingly over hot AA zones.
Do mobile players use the same vehicle actions?
Yes in spirit—on-screen buttons map to the same fire, rocket, boost, and hover actions. Learn the PC key names so chat callouts still make sense.
Where should I go after learning controls?
Return to Getting Started if you are new, then Battle Score for unlocks and How to Win for objective play. Use Maps when you forget spawns.
